- Synopsis -
English:
Shingo Yoshida materializes and freezes the movement of a sound curve in the asphalt of a road, creating the work Sonic Hedgehog, which gives a sculptural dimension to the urban sound frequency of a traffic lane. Thus guided, we are invited to become more attentive on our daily strolls, not just as spectators. (5m x 5m, 8 February 2008 – 28 March 2008)

Exhibition Overview:
A crossroads between art and the urban, the Rond-point exhibition highlights the intersection between art and public space. Shingo Yoshida presents Sonic Hedgehog in the first room, where the image and sound of an urban frequency captured in Yokohama merge. The Japanese artist freezes the movement of a sound curve within the asphalt of a road.
Meanwhile, Ivan Moudov diverts authority in two videos to highlight its absurdity. The first, Traffic Control, takes place at an Austrian intersection, where the artist, dressed as a Bulgarian police officer, directs traffic until the real police arrive. The second, 14:13 Minutes Priority, documents seven cars using their right of way at a German roundabout, creating a 14-minute traffic jam.
The exhibition also launched the Guide to Contemporary Art in Public Spaces, covering the Greater Lyon Territory from 1978 to 2008.
